How to Make a Sensor Smaller Without Using a Hammer

Many efforts are made all over the world to make small sensors. A small sensor itself, however, is by no means a guarantee that the final system will be small. For this many additional requirements and constraints will have to be taken into account like packaging and interconnects, auxiliary electronics required etc.

Based on some examples it will be shown that a clever combination of functionalities rather then just straight forward large scale integration may be key to obtaining really small systems.
