Research Activities on Mobile Antenna Systems for Toyota Cars

Recently many kinds of wireless systems have been introduced in cars. For example, radar systems for monitoring the area around a car and inter-vehicle communication systems for safety driving. Also GPS, cell-phone and digital TV receiving systems for passenger's comfort and convenience.
Reduction of the antenna’s placement area is an important problem in cars. Shapes of antennas also have to be considered that does not influence car appearance. So, Toyota have researched antenna technologies aiming at high-performance, downsizing, and integration.

The lecture will present current research activities, focusing on the antenna technology applied in Toyota cars.
