The First SpaceX Payload Integration, FalconSAT-2 Goes to Kwaj
The FalconSAT-2 satellite,
with SSTL SNAP core avionics, is the first satellite to be launched by the SpaceX
Falcon-1 rocket. FS-2 was integrated to the Falcon LV on Kwajalean Atoll, Marshall
Islands, in mid November by a team from the United States Air Force Academy.
We will examine the Falcon payload processing, LV interface, logistics challenges,
and launch facilities on Kwaj through the story of that launch campaign in pictures
and a few words. This lecture describes the success story of that effort under
challenging conditions and reviews what payloaders need to know about processing
for the Falcon. It is an informative combination of technical review and travelogue.
