Weak-Signal GPS Tracking

With the advent of third generation (3G) mobile networks, location based services (LBS) will soon be available, answering questions such as “where am I?” “where is the nearest cafe?” and so on. There are only two viable solutions to this problem, either using network infrastructure or embedded satellite navigation (e.g. the Global Positioning System, or GPS). The problem for GPS is that it was not designed for operation indoors and in other poor-signal environments. This talk examines the state of the art in designing GPS receivers that will cope with this difficult environment.
