Electronic Engineering - Autumn 2014 Exchange Student Applications

This page provides a brief summary of the module choices and semester dates available for study in the Electronic Engineering department of the University of Surrey during the autumn semester. The purpose of this is to assist students in making applications to select appropriate modules for their studies.

Autumn Semester Dates

Please note the semester dates at this link to ensure that they are going to fit into your schedule. Exams will take place at the end of the semester so it is important you don't leave early.

Module choices

Many applications often come in where the module choices made are not appropriate. This is either to do with which semester they are offered or timetabling issues. Therefore, it is important to consider at first which semester you are coming to the University (either the autumn or spring semester) and then choose appropriate modules. Only modules at level 3 or above are available for exchange students, which will require about 2 years study at your institution though there are cases where this is higher. Students who do not have sufficient modules equivalent to level 2 study in the department will not be accepted.

Each level 3/M module is worth 7.5 ECTS credits and we recommend therefore that students take three modules or less if they are undertaking a project. All in all, work should be set to cover around 22.5 ECTS. When you have made module choices, the exchange programmes coordinator will look at your application and advise on the suitability of the modules based on prior experience and appropriateness of the combinations chosen.

One must note that it is NOT possible to undertake any of these modules in combination with modules from another department, even if that department has a bilateral agreement with your institution. Such cases are not feasible as far as timetabling is concerned.

These modules are provided in the AUTUMN semester. Some of the links do not work because the links are not available at present.

Undertaking a project.

If you are visiting to undertake a project, this will need to be agreed with an appropriate supervisor and approved by the exchange programmes coordinator when the application is made. It will also be ensured that you as a student have the appropriate facilities provided to you in order to undertake the project before the application is signed off.
