Like several of the hotels in Ilfracombe this one was built during the town's Victorian heyday as a luxury villa. It is perched under the summit of the Torr: don't even think of walking back to it from the town centre unless you are super fit.

check out the High Street where, although the street plan derives from the middle ages, most of the architecture is decaying 19th century.

Most of Ilfracombe is visible from Capstone. More climbing. Here I have joined four shots together seamlessly not. Moral: use a narrower lens angle and work in portrait mode.

The two sandcastle shaped buildings toward the right are the recently completed Landmark Theatre. The museum has a working electric pendulum clock.
