It was just this small town in Surrey. Then they finally finished the cathedral (and used it to film The Omen) and it... stayed this small town in Surrey. With a borough council (alternate DNS) and a small town centre. This is ludicrous, since Guildford has a cathedral (with bellringers), a ruined castle, and a university. I hail from the City of Peterborough, which only scores one out of three so far, but since its cathedral was set up several centuries before its governing body, Peterborough is a city.
We won't even mention the city of Ely. I knew I should have gone and studied in Edinburgh.
And would you believe that some people think that Guildford is a tiny village?
